I began glassing boards in the 60's and during the 70's we were real into making backyard surfboards. It wasn't until I opened Santa Cruz'n that I seriously began shaping - why not, I was in the shaping rooms of all the best shapers in the world ordering boards. So I listened and watched. I only shape LB's; the longer the better.
From Cort Gion I learned how to shape and glass a surfboard and be able to ride it the same day. I had boards catch fire because the resin was so hot and I was glassing in the sun.
